Workplace Mediation
Workplace conflict rarely improves by being ignored.
Why Mediation?
A strained working relationship, communication breakdown, unresolved complaint or difficult manager and employee dynamic can quickly affect morale, productivity, absence, retention and wider team stability. In many cases, early intervention can help prevent matters escalating unnecessarily into formal grievances, sickness absence, resignations or more complex employment disputes.
At Affordable Support, workplace mediation is offered as part of our wider HR, employment support and employee relations service. This means the process is grounded not only in mediation principles, but also in practical workplace experience, HR process, management pressures and business reality.

👥How the process works
1. Initial suitability discussion
We start with a confidential discussion to understand the background and whether mediation may be appropriate.
This may include considering:
2. Separate pre-mediation conversations
Where mediation is suitable, each participant will usually have a separate private conversation before the joint session.
This helps them understand the process, raise any concerns and prepare for the mediation.
3. Mediation session
The mediation session provides a structured opportunity for the parties to speak, listen and explore practical ways forward.
The mediator manages the process, supports constructive communication and helps the parties focus on future working arrangements.
4. Agreement or next steps
Where the parties reach agreement, the key points can be recorded in writing, subject to the parties’ consent.
Any agreement is usually focused on practical working arrangements, communication expectations and steps to support a better working relationship.
